About Andrew Lewis
I am a computer scientist, author, lecturer and freelance journalist with a strong interest in 3D scanning and computation.
I am currently conducting research in archaeometrics at the University of Wolverhampton.
I'm a keen Maker, and I have a fondness for legacy technology, reclaimed materials, and open hardware. Some of my projects have been featured in O'Reilly magazine publications, and at conferences throughout the UK.
Most recently, I have been invoved in the development of an opensource 3D scanning system called Project Splinescan. Further information about the scanner can be obtained on the project website, where detailed open source plans we soon be available for download.
I was recently invited to contribute to the DIY and Save suppliment of the Guardian and Observer. The guide covers a wide variety of subjects, from household patching right the way through to clothing and gadget repair. The guide will be available free with The Guardian and The Observer on the 16th and 17th of January, 2010.
