Project Splinescan
WEBSITE UNDER RECONSTRUCTION - PLEASE BE PATIENT

Can I buy a 3D scanner from you?
This is currently under consideration. It may be possible to buy scanning kits from splinescan in early 2008, but a number of technical and commercial factors need to be assessed before this happens.

Can you make a blender plugin for this?
Yes, it's on the (very long) list of things to do.

Does the Scanner work on WINDOWS/OSX/LINUX?
The scanner is written in python, with a Tk gui. The scanner should work on any platform capable of running those applications, which includes windows, mac and linux. I personally prefer to use Xubuntu linux or debian, and the prototype scanner currently runs on debian(sarge).

What hardware do I need to run the scanner?
The original scanner used an AMD-K6/2-500 processor with about 128Mb of RAM and a 4.3Gb HDD. Things have moved on since the original prototype, but there is no real need to use a very powerful machine to run the scanner. The python code is much faster than the original Visual Basic version, and runs quite comfortably on a VIA C3-800 processor (the current prototype).

Can I help on the project?
Absolutely! There is always room on the project for people to help out with code, graphics, hardware, advertising or anything else for that matter. If you would like to do something to support the project, email andrew@splinescan.co.uk or join the mailing list and annouce your interest.
